Heya folks. Been lurking quietly for a while, I know. Had to duck in with some observations.

On the down side for me: the cover. Welll, actually, it's okay, I guess. Can't complain about seeing Wonder Broad back again, after all, not to mention Flasher. But the composition seems a little blah. Three figures, not really any connection between them, no special effects, no action. Also, what's up with Broad's and Flasher's upper lips? There's something about the way it's positioned - they don't seem distressed so much as getting ready to brush their teeth. You know what I mean? Smile I'm guessing this is a third-party lip pose, so maybe there's not much you can do about it, but if you can, I'd LOVE it if you did. It's taking me out of the illusion. Smile

Constructive criticism: I think the upper lip needs to look more relaxed. Let it cover a bit more of the upper teeth. The mouth as a whole could probably open just a bit, so there's black visible between the upper teeth and the lower lip.

On the upside. Page 1 is GREAT. Now this is interesting lighting! Great fit to the scene! Meanwhile, I hope I'm not the only one who enjoys the patter between the heroines. This, to me, is what makes this comic more than just a coatrack for porn. Call me strange; I like plot and dialogue. Very Happy

Had to double-check whether you'd used "ordinance" correctly. Heh. (You did.)

Page 2: there's that upper lip again. But that's okay; the rest of the page is a winner. Nice touch with the blur effect; the lighting once again is terrific; and Flasher looks great lying at the bottom. She's always been a wonderful example of a hot-looking C-cup model.

Personally, I never really got into the whole "sleepy peril" thing. It's okay and all, but I'm thinking this is really a fetish for other people. So be it.

For now, the story is setting up nicely. I'm eager for more!

I'm still wondering: just how long does it take to make a page like page2? We have 7 frames in all, three with a 3D background visible, the rest with varying "simple" backgrounds (is there a term for backgrounds that are just gradients and shadings instead of scenery?), some special lettering, a blur effect. Plus blocking, rendering, and clean up. How many hours does it take?

The time varies a bit depending on how many figures are in a scene. I usually sketch a page out first, and then build the panels for the frames. Once I've got my panel sizes, I set up the renders, and usually, there's a good bit of cleanup and compositing that goes on afterward.

If I'm working smart, I do a few pages of layout, and then do the renders all at once, and spend the next bit compositing and doing post-work. Then, the lettering is added as a layer over the art. About a page a day is what I shoot for.

I've been reading Sin City and trying to think more creatively with the 3D, wanting to try some more artistic layouts. I'd like to go beyond just the straight Poser art and do more true comics. I used the flash-lines and the zip-a-tone shading looks to link back to my traditional days in the business.

The chloro-rag was indeed from a request, and it's a fetish we tried to work in, so there's a little something for everyone. Very Happy

(Looking forward to the Sin City movie!)

I really like the look of the third page. It makes the action look more actiony.

Is actiony a word? Sad

Yup! So do I.

The latest page of City of Babes Issue#3 is fantastic!

It has a great comic book feel to it. Great job Jeff!
