Seems as though new spamming tactics are getting used and I'm trying to figure out what it could possibly mean as far as other applications and/or explaining some things. What I've noticed is that some of these spammers seem to be able to "undo" marking topics as read for the forums. I mark all topics as read in one section and go to another. A little while later, without any new replies, topics in that section are marked as unread again.
Not sure if this tactic has been used before, first time I recall seeing it. Anyways, I'm just a little concerned as to what this could mean as far as what else they could do. |

The invasion has begun. There is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.
-hears a collective voice-
We are the bots. You will be assimilated. Your Role-playing and Discussion threads will be added to our own. Resistance is futile.
YAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

Now that I think about it, bots tend to pop up when Ronald isn't online.

I think they have a RonRadar or something. |

I've disabled- self approved registration.
From here on out if somebody signs up, they need to be a member and need to email me a request to be approved.

So unless they are members, they can't sign up unless they send you an email, correct? |

Well my contact information is ONLY in the members area.
And should not be given out to anybody anyways.
So there will be no freebie users flooding the forum.
People can signup, but they need to contact me personally to approve of their account.

Sounds good to me.
Thank You, Mr. Ronald.
If new members are upset because of that, well...blame the spammers. ::dry:: |

How would they be upset because of that? They just need to simply email me to activate their account.
Why would any new member be upset?
That they can't post immediately? LOL.
The only people upset would be non-members who wants to join the forum. |

| The reason the posts are marked unread, is that spammers are spamming, but Ronald is deleting the posts. Although at one point there was something 'new' there (the spam), now its gone, and forum bases "unread"ness (ok, so thats not really a word) based on when the thread was updated. Which was at the point the spam was deleted. |

Sounds like a bit of a drastic measure to me personally.
What if say a member had a friend they wanted to join the forum but said friend could not afford membership? Would that member be allowed to somehow request their friend be granted a forum account?
I also assume that those with an account on the forum but not a membership will not be removed... |

Then you can email me and let me know the friend's name. and his email. And I'll email him. :)
No problem with that. Referrals.
I dont like having to manually approve accounts either. But I also don't like having to manually remove spams either. So I'm going with the lesser of the two annoyance.
We're going to be making some major changes to the way things work soon.

Here's a glimpse at what will be coming in the future this year. (Sooner or later this year):
We will be creating a GLOBAL account system, (similar to Battle.net and Cryptic account). It will be free. Email address will be the primary use for account login. This way, people will be less likely to share "username/passwords" to their accounts, because it is their email address they're giving away.
We will have unique "display names", that you can choose- so email address is completely hidden and private and protected.
This account again will be FREE. It will allow you to be able to play free games, and access free materials and other freebies we will occassionally be allowing. We plan to have major free activities for you. And of course, Forum Access.
We're also pushing for a custom avatar system. I've already started to talk to artists about creating Avatar system (similar to Gaia online) as I have been mentioning in another thread.
Global account means, just that, ONE ACCOUNT for all the websites I operate. PleasureBonBon, Vixine, EAdultGames, EAdultComics, etc.
Central News Feed, that can be customized/filtered. Content will be accessible based on your subscription selection. You can choose to 'add' other subscriptions to your account.
The main thing will be 'FREE' account that will allow you to still be part of the community even when you put your subscription on HOLD or even if you don't activate a subscription. The benefit here is playing games with high score system. And other community features. Adding 'friends'. Earning XP and GamePoints. (The new system will allow me to also track your Royal status automatically, instead of having you email me your old billing info and new billing info. etc). Rewards based on loyality level or active level (XP).
We will reduce ForumSpams with a new custom forum system. |

Oh yeah- I increased the post count per page to be higher. I got tired of going to the next page so often. |

I'm interested in seeing how this will work for the forums in the future.
I think that it's important that the forums stay visible for those who haven't joined yet. Being able to interact with other members and with Vanessa, was one of the things that caught my attention and made me join the main site. People should be able to see what the place is like before they join it IMO, and from what I understand here, it'll stay that way.
Now on to the subject of people needing to join the main site before they can join the forums. That's a tricky one. I know that a lot of our fellow members here weren't able to afford a membership when the joined the forum, but later were able to do so, and I can't see anything wrong in that. Just as some have had to take some time off from the main site, myself included, because of financial problems.
But if someone joins the forums, with absolutely no intention of ever joining the main site, now that's just not right in my opinion.
and I just noticed that Ronald posted before I was done typing my message. That kind of changed a lot. |

We fully intend to have forums be readable to all. And people will signup to get an account.
The big reason I want forums to be viewable to all is GOOGLE. Word search.
We will also add in features for Forums to be Royal Members only accessible too. I know a few people suggested this and we will be taking that suggestion. |
