Really I just wanted to make a couple comments about the way things are going thus far...
I really enjoy looking back into the past of the characters, and especially to see a bit more about Red and Mary's background together. This latest page makes me wonder a couple things about the ages of the characters at this point, so I figured I'd do the math just to save other people the time...
If Red, Betty, and Mary are all 26, 23, and 20 years old, respectively (according to their bio pages), then that would make them 21, 18, and 15 as of 1890, which is when the current flashback is taking place.
I did this only because, at first, I was wondering how old Red had to be in order to enter an establishment such as the Delight Castle without security trying to rush him out... obviously, being 21, he's old enough to be going into such places (at least by today's standards... the standard "legal age" was probably different in real life in 1890).
I also came to the conclusion that Betty, being 18, could be construed as "legal-age" by our same current standards, which got me thinking... just how soon after becoming an "adult" did Betty start her current career in prostitution? Mary's story says she works there as a maid, but perhaps that's changed since the last time the two have seen eachother?
*sigh* The anticipation and speculation seems to never end, I'm afraid...
Oh, and on a side-note, I just noticed Donovan Lancaster, Aurioch's fursona, making a quick cameo in the last panel... It appears "The Don" has been a customer of the Delight Castle for a few years now. I wonder, would a return customer like "The Don" expect certain perks and bonuses for such loyal patronage? If so, Mr. Six-Killer might be thinking about making numerous trips to the town of Bon Bon in the future... |

I'm enjoying the flashback as well, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what Red will find at the Delight Castle. Mary talks about how her father threw Betty out and forbade her from visiting Mary again. That could mean that Edelweiss has already been exiled or is about to be. Which makes me think that you may be right that a lot has changed for Betty since Mary last saw her. She could be the princess of the Delight Castle already.
I'm still hoping to see Edelweiss though, and to find out more about what happened to her.
Also, I wonder how long the flashback is going to be. There's so much that could be told in it, I guess, but there's also the ball that's going to be in issue 6. |

Bravo Johnny! You get the right way, the ages are correct, nothing in PBB is for case. I hoped that someone would have verified the age of the characters from the respective biographies. And yes, you and Symphony are right on the points, a part that we will not see Edelweiss in this issue, but she will reappear in the next issue 7, and will be exciting to discover that...... no, nothing spoilers for now!
PS Hey, don' t you have noted that Betty often put on the heart brooch of Edelweiss (and that it is appeared on the top in the cover of the issue # 4) ? |

I hadn't noticed it until you just mentioned it. That's a nice touch.
I also noticed how some of the girls, who we saw in the flashback from 1880 in issue 4, are still working at the castle in 1890. I wonder if Lily is still a maid or if she works there like the other girls at that time. :curious:
I like her for some reason ::biggrin::
And the way Red reacts to the Delight Castle reminds me of how William behaved when he first arrived in Bon Bon  |

I thought the same thing, though William seemed to behave a bit more manic when he first arrived, though of course his weakness was gambling at the time, not sex... |

Now I definately can't wait to see what else is going on in the Delight Castle at the time of the flashback. ::bouncy:: |

In Red's case, I think this is more of his first time seeing women showing off their sexuality. A interesting thing for a young man at Red's past age... |

| This brings to mind the question of Bon Bon's lascivious nature. More specifically, it's origin. Was the town always so inclined to salaciousness? It's possible, given the town origins (a mining town if I remember right). However Bon Bon's incline towards prurience could have started later, but in either case it was probably a gradual event. I would hazard a guess that it started before Simon Blue came to power, as it were, but it pobably wasn't until after that that Bon Bon's amorosity went into full swing. |

As mildly embarissing as it is, yes. When I first learned about Bon Bon back on Vixine, I felt very much the same way Red reacted. Bon Bon was a mind blowing wake up call to the furry art and sex I've seen before, and I refuse to go back. |

Just can't resist the siren song, Shadow? I can sympathize with that. Though for my part I quite enjoy Red's reaction to the castle. Maybe I like a touch of vulnerability in guys, but I just like showing off something mindblowingly spectacular.
Of course, for me, it's my work that is so awesome, rather than myself.
I'd also like to see what's become of the vixen maid. Personally, I'd like to see her as a working girl whose talents are beyond the possession of certain bits of plumbing. Maybe I'm imprinting myself a little on her, but she's a dark furred vixen. I have to cheer for my peer. :D |

I love the way Lily looks now. ::love::
Really, especially that first picture of her. She's another brilliant addition to the story, Vanessa. You certainly don't disappoint :D |

| She never does. As I said of Ronald before, this is why we love our dear Vanessa Santato. |

| Really? Well, congratulations, that's very nice. And methinks it's properly spelled "lynx", Miss Scorpia. (sorry, but it's in my nature to correct any spelling errors I see) |

| My, my, my... From a simple maid to a VERY elagent atire. Lilly certainly made a very large step from a maid. One can see her real beauty there. |

Heh heh, I was wondering when we were going to find out what happened to Lily... looks like she may have gotten a "promotion" from just another maid at the Castle...
I'm usually pretty amazed at the level of detail in Ms Santato's work, especially when it comes to the backgrounds and the numerous colorful characters that populate BonBon. For some reason I was particularly interested in the card-game in the third panel of page 6. Even a small detail, like adding the "sweat drop" on the fox facing away from the "camera", added a nice element of liveliness to the whole composition, as you can imagine the fellow realizing he's just been dealt a poor hand.
I also enjoy seeing more unusual species being included in the whole "menagerie" of background characters, like the bull (who at first glance reminded me of the bull from the "Taurus" horoscope pinup, though with shorter horns) and the lynx. Sometimes, you get a little tired of seeing countless domestic cats, dogs, wolves, foxes, and mice populating a furry landscape (as those seem to always be the most popular fursona choices). I suppose that's also why I was glad to see our fennec Lily return to the story... |

Congrats, Miss Scorpia. I can imagine your joy.

Indeed. I actually think that there's still a bit of maid look about her, but in a very different way. I also wonder what her function at the castle is now. It could be her job to greet customers, or Red might just have picked have randomly picked someone to ask about Betty.

While I still enjoy those kind of characters, and have vixen among my favorites, that's also why I intend to pick a species that's not seen much use in Bon Bon yet. |
