Lord Gantros?

While I greatly appreciate my inclusion in the comic, I didn't think I merited a title such as Lord Gantros! I pictured my avatar as something akin to Howard Hughes, Dr.Frankenstein, and Stoker's Dracula all rolled into one. I never imagined getting called 'Lord Gantros', makes me hear the Imperial March theme from Star Wars when I read it...Otherwise, fantastic work, Vanessa! Also, I'm glad all that research into Victorian Cinema I did didn't go to waste.

On a side note, Vanessa, That first panel showing the valley with the sun setting (or is it rising?), I can just picture the construction of my tower in segment BB5_28_02, on top of that cliff above that tiny house in the distance.

Also I must say that your mask screams Raw Le' Cruset to me. Next thing you know it I'll be seeing getting into Providence Gundam to kick ass. :roll:

Actually, I did use his masque as a reference when requesting my avatar, as well as Gargoyles' Goliath (for wings), Final Fantasy 7's Sephiroth (for hairstyle), Dark Stalkers' Jedah (for clothing style), and Jackie Chan Adventures' talismans (for the bat pendant my avatar wears) for references. So, in other words, my avatar is an amalgam of the shows and games I enjoy.

Dear Gantros, now I'll explain. While the other Avatars are rather "classic" and meld well with the usual customers of the Delight Castle, your character is extremely characterized, he's got a mask, a very peculiar outfit 8) , and evokes mystery. I thought that Violet should address you with a respectful title since she feels embarrassed and flustered. "Thanks Gantros" is too confidential, she feels respect and awe for your work as well as your looks. If it had been Betty talking, she probably would have called you just Gantros, Betty doesn't bow to anyone :roll:
But if you don't like it I can correct it and delete "Lord" :|

I think you should keep it as is, Vanessa... you definitely explained Violet's humble respect for such a mysterious looking guy as Gantros. Besides, even I first thought Gantros' character has some sort of regal quality to him. It didn't seem all that odd for someone to attach a title like Lord to him anyway.

Also, good catch on that Gundam reference, Ultima... I was wondering why Gantros' mask looked so familiar...

Some peoples' appearance just screams that there is a title attached. White coat? Mildly unhinged? Has animal bits floating in jars? Doctor. Black or red robe, ridiculous white curly wig? Probably a judge.

Mask, very unusual clothes, cape, and a bloodline that would make Gregor Mendel himself break down and weep for his work? Only an aristocrat can get away with that, I should think. Your lordship. :lol:

That's ok, it's not a complaint, just an observation. I have no objections to the title 'Lord', I just didn't think that I'd done anything to deserve such a title. But looking at it from your perspective, it makes sense. I guess the rest of the community agrees with you, as well, so who am I to complain?

I did some thinking about this and realized that a majority of my avatar's influences are genocidal madmen. Jedah, Sephiroth, and Rau are all the 'final boss' of each of their respective games/series, and the fate of all humanity rests on those who fight against them. Maybe the will of Goliath will balance it out...

Aye. Always wondered why the heck he's got such a huge fanbase, given that he's basically a deranged bully with an Oedipal complex the size of California...
Of course, if we count out the yaoi/bishonen/bad boy/whatever fangirls, the fanbase drops by, say, 65% or so, if not more :D

Actually it breaks even when you take into account the Jackie Chan Adventures influence (of the 12 talismans, based on the Chinese Zodiac, the tiger Talisman gives the user spiritual balance), as well as the 'helm of awe' rune that's set into the mask, it is meant to protect against corruption.

As for the Lordship, I too think it suits him, especially when there is the envisionment of a tower over looking a valley.

The 'to be continued' at the end of the new comic page, as well as Violet's request that my peepshow machine be kept secret makes me curious as to what Vanessa has planned for it, or for me for that matter. Also, I'm slightly disappointed at the fact that my avatar didn't remove his masque, even when he removed everything else. Maybe Vanessa has that planned for another time, those piercing, hypnotic blue eyes must be being saved for another day...
