| haven't had a chance for sight seeing yet... someone higher up decided that we can't leave the base... i am hoping to see some of the ww2 battle sights as my grandfather was here when it happened |

| Interesting. My grandfather was over in Britain. Though he was more one of the officers behind a desk, there was a raid on the building they were in and they had to take up their pistols and defend the building. He received a purple heart, but I was never told where exactly he had been short or injured. |

| Really.. mine was a simple on the ground infantry man... tough as hell though, the only man in his platoon to survive all 3 beach landing they did. |

| Makes me wish I could have seen the beaches at Okinawa where my father landed with the US Marines in 1945.He was shot in the hip(for which he got his purple heart),but he did manage to do inflict some harm on the enemy before he went down(or so he said).It's been 6 months since he died and I still admire his courage all those years ago. |
