| As is said by your forum name. Still, I, for one, appreciate your introducing yourself with your first post. Hello, my name is Ashton Gray. (Or at least it is here.) |

I wouldn't bother trying to talk to him.
He's a spammer most likely since his registered email address is one of the spamming email addresses. Guess he's testing out his new spam bot software or something and decided to manually post. |

| Oh really? Well, even if that is the case, I'm glad I responded to his introduction in kind. We shall see what happens next I suppose but thank you for your advice, Ronald, I shall take it to heart. |

| I would'nt go that far, sLaV, but they are a very big nuisance. Is there nothing to be done about them, are we just to "grin and bear it", so to speak? |

Mainly, yes. Possibly with a VERY large and VERY hungry bear. Kodiak or polar okay with you, folks? |

Well, there sort of is a counter for Spammers.
We could get an Add-on that checks for first time posters. Usually spammers aren't too bright and don't spend time reading the forum. Their first post is usually a spam.
So enabling a first posting count check for new users filters out the posting from displaying and let's moderators read it and decide if it is spam or worth posting or not.
Another counter would simply just be an human test, such as requiring each person who is signing up for an account to just simply email us and request us to activate their registered account. But more important, state why they're signing up to the forum. Most people (the non-spammers) don't bother reading rules of a website so this might be too complicated for them to figure out. |
