Two years ago, I went to a wildlife reserve in Zanesville, Ohio called the Wilds. It was there that I was able to see exotic animals such as cheetahs and rhinos. However... I came across depressing news from that place. The articles in question can be found here:

How anyone could do this is beyond me...

I saw this on the news this morning and it pissed me off, they have absolutely no right to kill these animals, they cant hurt the people if they stay away from them, they are no better than the poachers!

I'm sorry to hear that. Its never a good thing when animals, especially those of an endangered species are put down because of some nutjob's last act to get back at society.

Feh...animal lovers who take wild tigers, bears, and lions and keep them in they're own sanctuary...only to release them to be free...seriously some people are out of they're minds. You want a canine...don't get a wolf that can rip out your head, get a dog. You want a feline, get a cat...doesn't matter how adorable a lion cub looks when he is small...it is going to grow, probably to the size when it would consider a 6 ft 5 inch person its chew toy.

Yeah, apparently the reason was because the police only had live ammunition...

Bull They said on GMA that they had traq, the only reason they didnt use them was because it was dark and they were too afraid to go into the woods, so they decided to shoot them instead!!

I smell a lawsuit big time in the making against the police department.

Well, I never said it was smart, just that it will be attempted.

But the Police Dept did what they had to do, and that was to protect the civilians. Don't tell me that wild tigers and wild lions running around a neighborhood isn't dangerous. Okay so they got out of hand, yet cops have a history of getting out of hand.

To what extent to protect the people?? The schools there were canceled and they told everyone in the town to stay in their homes, and to not engage the animals

Anyways...this whole thing could have been prevented if it wasn't for Ohio. No offense if anyone here is from Ohio. But they should have put some laws in. People keeping exotic animals in cages in they're backyards never ends well.

Believe me when I say that I can see this from two different perspectives. I do think the police acted out of some indifference even with all the warnings to the people, but I accept that there was danger to the public despite these precautions.

And to the police themselves...heck even a vet with a tranquilizer tried it with a tiger and the tiger went berserk. Ever been near a tiger that goes crazy? Wait...tigers don't go crazy...tiger go tiger.
