You know life sucks when you gotta work in a hurricane. For anybody who's in the path of Irene I urge you as an EMT to stay home or at a designated shelter.

Raven, I wish you the best of luck. We just got blown past Irene a few days ago and I just made it out with a cracked iPhone screen and some tossed around pieces of metal. Others weren't as lucky.

Prepare z'em battery packs, Radios and First Aid kits. Stay indoors, keep all animals locked in safe cages and have plenty of canned food for emergencies. That's all I can say.

You should always prepare for the worst but always check your local news and emergency channels for the latest news on hurricanes and other natural disasters._

Use your local radio stations and internet to get updates. As far as your work is concerned let management handle that.If you're uncomfortable with going during the storm call and let supervisors /management know.

Its moments like this I'm glad I live in-land. Unfortunately, and this is meant as a joke, that you guys are lucky bastards to have so much rain.

That's so true Rune. When's the last time we even got rain hear?

I my self have never been in a hurricane but I have been in flashfloods, Softball size hail, a tornado, and my house almost got stuck by lightning. So I know things go bad fast im stuff like this and truly hope that all those people caught in the hurricane's path will be okay.

Yes, I agree that a hurricane is a natural disaster, and I would'nt wish any kind of ill fate to befall the people on the east coast.

So far 15 people are dead through out the North East.Thankfully I only had to deal with people with minor injuries.

you can say that is is over kill but think back about katrina and New Orleans.

the government of the USA failled big time then and still the city and surounding places aren't been repaired 100%

so it's better to prepare for the worst and hope for the best

Well it's lucky for me that I'm living on an island out of reach of the hurricane.

Rikardo, I think being on an island puts you even more at risk unless of course its an island in the middle of a massive lake inland.

Living in England, I don't think we've ever had a natural disaster, or not since I've been alive. I worry for everyone on here, because I know a lot of you are from the US, and you could be hit by the hurricane. I hope you all come out of it safely..

Safe, we rarely have tornadoes over here, one struck Birmingham with huge force recently.
